About Catalyst
What to Expect in a Therapy Session at Catalyst Psychology
Structured, Active, and Designed to Help Build Real Momentum
At Catalyst Psychology, therapy moves beyond supportive conversation. It’s a focused, collaborative process that helps adults understand the patterns keeping them stuck, practice new responses, and build meaningful change into daily life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, OCD, insomnia, ADHD, stress, overthinking, or difficulty with focus and follow-through, each session fits into a bigger plan: the Catalyst Care Arc.
The Catalyst Care Arc gives therapy structure without making it one-size-fits-all. We begin by understanding the patterns keeping you stuck, then connect your goals to an evidence-based treatment plan. From there, sessions focus on practicing new responses, applying them in daily life, and refining the work as therapy unfolds.
Over time, the goal is greater confidence, flexibility, and independence, so the progress you make in therapy carries into the places where life actually happens.
Clarify the Pattern → Build the Plan → Practice & Refine → Solidify Skills

includes:
Every session has direction, with room to adjust
Each session is guided by your goals, treatment plan, and what is changing in daily life. We begin by checking in on what has shifted, what still feels difficult, and where the work needs attention.
Some sessions focus on learning and practicing a new strategy. Others focus on refining what you are already trying, working through a stuck point, or adapting the plan when something important comes up. The process is structured, but flexible, so therapy stays focused on progress without losing sight of what matters now.
01
A collaborative check-in to identify updates or shifts in focus
02
Introduction of a new skill, tool, or strategy aligned with your goals
03
In-session practice, reflection, and troubleshooting
04
Real-world application—how this tool fits your life, and how to navigate any barriers
05
A clear next step, so you leave with confidence and direction
In practice, this might mean learning how to respond differently to anxious thoughts, reduce rumination or checking, rebuild sleep patterns, strengthen follow-through, or move through stress with more flexibility and skill.
The goal is for each session to offer something you can take with you: a clearer understanding, a practiced response, a focused next step, or a strategy you can build on between sessions. When therapy works, it does more than feel useful in the room; it carries into daily life.

Comprehensive Initial
Evaluation
Your path to meaningful change begins with a comprehensive evaluation. This essential first step helps us fully understand your unique circumstances and design a personalized treatment plan just for you
During the first two sessions, we’ll explore your concerns, medical and psychological history, and personal goals for therapy as well as utilize validated questionnaires to help us identify patterns and key targets for our work together
The information gathered enables us to offer personalized recommendations that we then refine together to align with your preferences.

Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on your initial evaluation, we recommend evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches tailored to your goals and needs. Treatment focuses on practical strategies and skill development, with progress reviewed regularly to support meaningful change.
Frequency
Sessions are typically scheduled once or twice weekly, depending on your needs, goals, and availability.
Course of Care
- CBT for Insomnia is typically completed in 7 to 9 sessions.
-
CBT at Catalyst follows a structured, goal-oriented course of care guided by your priorities and how therapy unfolds over time. Treatment length is shaped by your goals, the insights and changes that emerge, and any new areas of focus that you identify as progress is made. Care is reviewed regularly so your treatment plan can adapt as your needs evolve.
- Your treatment length may vary based on your individual progress and the challenges you wish to address.
This approach allows time to identify patterns, develop and practice effective strategies, and make steady progress toward your goals. Care at Catalyst balances intentional, goal-focused work with the flexibility to respond to life’s challenges as they arise, allowing sessions to be used where they are most helpful in the moment.
What Influences Treatment Duration?
Treatment length is not one-size-fits-all. A variety of factors shape your therapy plan:
Treatment goals:
Clear and specific goals may require fewer sessions, while more complex treatment plans might take longer.
Progress and engagement
Actively participating in therapy and practicing new skills between sessions can accelerate progress.
New goals or adjustments
As you make progress towards your goals, you may identify new challenges or patterns to address, which could extend your treatment as we continue building on your successes.
Ongoing Support and Flexibility
Therapy is a collaborative process, and your progress will be regularly evaluated to ensure we are on the right track. We will work together to decide:
When to reduce the frequency of sessions as you begin to meet your goals.
Whether you would benefit from maintenance sessions or occasional check-ins to sustain your progress.
At Catalyst Psychology, we recognize that life can shift in unexpected ways. We’re here to provide the right level of care, whether that means a short-term solution or ongoing support.
